At its core, the purpose of Guardian is the assignment of privileges. The Assignment screen creates the links between Provider and Privileges so when Guardian publishes, all of the providers' privileges are listed.

The Assignment screen is made up of four main sections, labeled below:

Available Privileges

The Available Privileges list shows all privileges that exist in Guardian. This list can be rather long (Guardian comes with over 2000 privileges pre-installed). Using the Filter Bar on the far left of the screen or Filter As You Type in the list will help located the desired privileges quickly and easily.

Both individual privileges and Bundles (designated with the graphic icon) are shown in the available privileges list.

Assigned Privileges

The Assigned Privileges list shows all privileges that are currently assigned to the selected provider.

Privilege Details

The Privilege Details section of the Assignment tab shows detailed information about a privilege selected in either list. This information changes as different privileges are selected.

Controls
The Controls section provides the buttons needed to assign and un-assign privileges.

graphic Add Privilege  Adds the privilege currently selected in the Available Privileges list to the selected provider's Assigned Privileges list. This will cause the selected privilege to be assigned to the provider throughout the Guardian system. If the privilege is a bundle, adds all associated privileges also.

graphic Remove Privilege  Removes the privilege selected in the Assigned Privileges list. This will cause the selected privilege to be unassigned from the provider. If the privilege is a bundle, it removes all privileges that are part of the bundle.

graphic Remove All Privileges Removes all privileges from the selected provider, whether or not they are part of a bundle.

graphic Provider Image Thumbnail Displays a small photo of the selected provider for visual reference. Clicking on the thumbnail will display a full sized photo.
